The Fall of English Premier League

Well today i decided to go away from Tech issues just to visit the ill fated sporting arena, after-all most of the sport is been aided by an increased use of science and technology, so technically, fundamentally, footballitically, technologically, basically and all the 'lly' i am not away from my field notwithstanding i am not defending myself.

It is no more news that as of Wednesday 13th March 2013 all English Teams have been eliminated from the European elite football league usually called "UEFA Champions League" (UCL) thought a good number still remains in the sub tier elite EUROPA league with the likes of Tottenham, Newcastle and Chelsea (the supposed favourites) still trying to see what they can get of their season.
Chelsea's Grace but now to grass
As the case may be 3 teams from Spain has scaled through the huddles  {Madrid, Barcelona and Malaga} giving spain an opportunity to boast of 3 reps in the UCL quarter-final for the very first time in 10 years however, England accomplished this in 3 consecutive seasons from 2007 to 2009. Also prior to that great accomplishment dated back to 2005, there was always an English Team in the UEFA Champions League every year. And most times if not for the draws could possibly have been and all english semi-final but Since then, there have been only two English teams to get as far as the semi-finals – Chelsea last season 2012 where they clinched the title above all odds and United in 2011.
Arsenal in the Glory days
 There was a time when up to 4 English teams stroll up through the quater-final stages of the UCL, there was season 2005-06 precisely, the season after Liverpool clinched the UCL Cup and reigned european champions after beating AC Milan in Istanbul, they had five teams involved but eventually Everton was eliminated in the qualifying .

Citing the Fall of 'The Grand Old Lady' called Juventus after they were punished for their involvment in illegal football practices, this lead to their fall from grace back in those days of Pavel, and the prime of french international David Trezeguet. But right now they are back to their feet. as many would say football is cyclical and relative because football thrives on success which is completely cyclical and relatively tied to history. There will be good times and bad times so in this respect lets not look into too much meaning of decline but what can one do? can we simply take it as a blip? or can we assume that putting Manchester city in a tight group cost them the knockout round?, or is it that Chelsea's sacking of Coach after their bad season began by an undeserved victory of Manchester united at Stamford bridge earlier this season via a Red carded Torres? or is that the Red card to Nani cost Manchester United not to talk of the near miss comeback Arsenal almost pulled back at the Allianz Arena (Home to Bayern) these things makes up the game and a top team must be able to rise above them all.

At present England has been and currently topping the UEFA's club coefficient ranking which determine the number of entries each country has in the competition and a UEFA spokesman told Reuters on Thursday it would be "many years" before there was any chance of England's entries being reduced from the current allocation. This is because the 4 lot allocated to english clubs has been well used, their performance has been great unlike recently. for their 4 team lots to be reduced "There would have to be a sustained lack of success and even then it would take many years before England's number was reduced," UEFA said.

Now there are certain things that i want to point out and i think they are the main reasons people will avoid,
Factors unknowingly and slowly aiding the downfall of the Premier League [ENGLISH TEAMS]
  • English Press: The English press is Good and at same time is very very bad, they inflict damage on their own, they are the number one reason England as a national team has not done well in World cup, or EUROs ever since, their players are afraid of them. They are partly the reason England lost the Hosting right of Fifa World Cup, what more to say. When Barcelona started playing the supposedly "Tiki-Taka" football, there was a great comparison initiated by the English pressmen, and the Spanish media saw truth in it and began to proclaim how great the style was, and that, the style in question is football, not the physical hard-earned football played by the English premier league teams, as time went on this comparison began to grow except for the likes of Arsenal who had always known the possession game play but off-course not as Barca who beat them up to with the UCL cup a certain season. The impact of this comparison gradually began to affect teams, they wanted to play that pretty beautiful football that Barcelona took ages to learn in just one season and thus, their downfall. PRESSURE from the English press has ensured many teams to pursue style evolution, completely trying to IMITATE possession game.
The effect of Conceding less goals over time : Skysports
  •  Football Culture: In my own point of view i think culture affects football to a large extent, the moment you try to change it, it springs up an in-balance between psychology and physical ability where the you physically change style but psychologically you've have not change it. For a team to completely change style it must be done both ways not just physically which seems much easier and faster. The English Premier league has built her reputation on fierce raw energy playing different teams at various levels who can hurt you real well with their will and strength, not their technical foresight to pass the ball well or keep possession, or to net 1000s of goals a season, but that desire to comeback, concede less goals, spring on great counter attacks, apply varying simple formations. That has been how the English teams made it this far.
  • Defence: From the picture above you will notice the numbers saying that, in this  alone the top three teams have conceded 1.07 goals/game. In the La-Liga, it will be no problem if this happens, and they do not even care that much, as they could concede goals all through the season but when it comes to the premier league it sure does matters like those days Chelsea won a season conceding only 15 goals in 38 matches. This UCL season the four English representatives conceded more goals per game, 1.39, than any season since 1998-99; Turn away from that you get Manchester City's inability to progress from group stage consecutively aiming at goals conceded, Arsenal leaving the competetion from away goals, ManU getting knocked out by from group stages by smaller teams by their own standards after they conceded some funny goals {i argued with a ManU fan friend that even if Nani had remained in the game Real Madrid would have scored a Goal at the very least [citing their inability to keep clean sheets]} it even showed off-recent having Chelsea score 2 goals to peg back United. Nevertheless Chelsea's triumph as UCL champions last season based on an outstanding display of defensive tactics but now the first European Champions to be knocked out from UCL group stages. The owner wanted an attractive style of football forgetting what took them to the stance they are today "Strong Defensive play and Spirit" ----
  • Some Lessons from EURO 2012: {England had the best defensive play}, {Italy Played Spain 2 times, drew the first and lost the second conceding 4 good goals}, {Italy changed their style of play in Final to appease the Press to have played open pretty football against Spain who eat beautiful football gamplay}
  • Attacking Gameplay vs Defensive Gameplay: Well lets assume that the style of play played in Spain and Barcelona is Attacking, an all-out attacking style, and the gameplay used by Inter-milan against Barcelona in UCL, Celtic and Chelsea against Barcelona and Bayern Munich also in UCL is Defensive now we can call one beautiful football and the other ugly football, fans want to see goals dribbles but at what expense "Glory" well can we argue that a defensive gameplay is as much a legitimate football tactics as to an offensive one which is even much more difficult to emulate than that of an attacking one. So now why are certain teams ashamed of what they know how to do best in other to embrace another? in my own point of view as much fielding out a defensive team is much of a tactics as to its counterpart.
I would love to summarise this in a realistic point of view citing human endeavours; There are values in life, there are personalities, they are characteristics, each works together to present who you really are, have you had doubts about yourself? ashamed of what people call you{Chelsea Won UCL but shamed of it they restructured there team and this season is the result}, and you really want to change it {afterall they say it is the only constant thing}  well you can but know that if you want to you must change your values and let it be relative to personality and character for it to be complete likewise in football, German football has always been German football with little or no change, Italian football has remains quite the same of its own standards over time, Spanish football has remained the same and their love for it increases its productivity but the English football is changing with more and more hatred towards their own very own style and a direct hit on productivity is the result. So Loving your self for who you are is a first step to change, Embrace your style of play, no matter what the press say, love yourself. ENGLAND LOVE YOUR CULTURE, LOVE YOUR STYLE OF PLAY, NO NEED TO COPY
